Weather changes, jobs change, people change, and access to information changes, however, the need for professional development is ever present. As the autumn leaves fall, the weather turns crisp MIEM continues to offer a conference designed specifically for support staff professionals to help them address the many challenges they face daily.
One of the reasons the MIEM Support Staff Conference for Administrative Professionals is such a success is the planning and organization of that conference by MIEM and the school office professionals who serve as the central office administrative assistant, building level secretary, and support services office professional who serve a that planning committee. A big thanks to all of you!
The planning committee is essential to the quality; however, MIEM would be remiss if we did not acknowledge the outstanding contributions from the presenters, most of whom volunteer to share their expertise. As you peruse the conference promo, take note of the presenters from firms, associations, districts, and the state who are sharing their knowledge and provide top-notch professional development.
One key element of the conference that has evolved through the years is the voluntary MIEM School Administrative Professional Certification (SAPC) program, which was influenced by the success of MSBO and MASA certification programs. This certification program was developed with input from support office professionals.
Another significant feature is the MIEM Crystal Award sponsored by Office Depot. This program celebrates outstanding contributions of those who work in support office professional positions.
MIEM is your connection through tough times, focusing on critical professional development to sharpen your skills and increase your knowledge on how best to fulfill your district responsibilities.
I hope to see you in November at the 23rd Annual Support Staff Conference for Administrative Professionals. Register online at www.gomiem.org.
Sincerely, Daniel G. Pappas Executive Director MIEM dpappas@gomasa.org
